BEAD FINISHES

A bead finish is a surface treatment of various kinds that alters, sometimes very substantially, the final appearance of the bead. Bead finishes may be very diverse technically, consisting in e.g. acid etching, surface staining, coating with a luster, or vacuum metallization. Some coatings are deliberately applied only to one half of the bead to increase the optical effect.

In the bead coding system bead finishes are referred to by five digit codes, similarly as bead colors. Here are a few examples:
